While the end of WoW feels like a long time coming now, it’s still an exciting announcement. World of Warcraft players are now able to team up with their friends for its final raid, which is said to be extremely difficult and rewarding. What does this mean for the future of gaming?
The “wow 9.2 patch notes” is a new update for World of Warcraft that has been released on the 14th of September. It’s called Eternity’s End and it brings with it many changes, such as a new raid, class changes, and more.
Yesterday, Blizzard announced that the next content update for World of Warcraft Retail’s Shadowlands expansion arc will be released today at 1 p.m. EST. We’re guessing it’ll be patch 9.2, and… my, where do we even begin with the narrative on this one? Shadowlands a year ago and Chains of Domination this summer were delayed, underwhelming, and resulted in a major exodus of gamers to other games, notably Final Fantasy XIV. In reality, WoW Classic’s Burning Crusade expansion and the cash shop bolstered the franchise in the first half of 2021, but even that wasn’t enough to stem the free-fall of monthly active users across Blizzard’s properties, which has dropped by 12 million players (31 percent) in the previous three years.
The second half of 2021 was much worse. Multiple lawsuits claiming sexual discrimination and harassment were filed against Activision-Blizzard in July, focusing mostly on the World of Warcraft teams. The backlash resulted in boycotts, the cancellation of BlizzConline, the dismissal of multiple developers, including studio head J. Allen Brack, and a slew of 9.1.5 revisions to the game and its feedback systems to appease both developers and players in what’s been dubbed “pulling the ripcord of panic.” The fact that the latest investor call didn’t include any good news for WoW – or plans for what we believed to be next year’s expansion – has dealt another blow to the community’s morale. For the greater part of a year, we’ve been documenting the chaos:
In sum, it’s been a crazy trip for the MMORPG that has dominated the genre for so long that most MMO players can’t recall a time when it didn’t exist.
That leads us to today’s unveiling of the 9.2 update, which we expect will be released soon. We’ll keep this site updated when more information becomes available.
Observations from the stream
Let’s get started. Eternity’s End is the title of Chapter 9.2, and it is the last chapter of one of the Warcraft saga’s books, according to Danuser. The new Zereth Mortis zone, the Enlightened faction, the First Ones’ musical language, the Sepulcher of the First Ones raid, the return of class tier sets, Mythic+ and PvP Season 3, “new mounts and pets,” a new Darkmoon Faire dancing minigame, and updates to professions, soulbinds, and conduits are all included in the update. He also mentions that the team is already working on the “next story to come,” but he doesn’t elaborate, which is disappointing since it almost implies that Blizzard will miss its two-year expansion cycle for the first time since launch. There is also no release date set for 9.2, either for the PTR or for the final version.
Prepare for the End of Eternity.
Zovaal, the enigmatic Jailer and lord of the Maw in the Shadowlands, has made his next move, and it threatens to change reality’s laws. You’ll meet him at Eternity’s End, and you may be able to rescue Azeroth and the Shadowlands from a destiny worse than death. The following are some of the characteristics of Eternity’s End:
ZERETH MORTIS’ NEW ZONE The First Ones constructed Zereth Mortis with the intent of creating afterlives. All that exists in the Shadowlands, Azeroth, and the regions beyond was created by its inhabitants, the automa. It’s an odd, foreign place that defies all notions of reality and physics. The Jailer seeks to change everything according to his plan using Zereth Mortis’ power.
GET TO KNOW THE ENLIGHTENED The Enlightened are traders that have been on Zereth Mortis for quite some time. They no longer see their surroundings as commercial, but rather as hallowed spaces where they expect to fulfill a greater calling—the quest of knowledge. To succeed and protect Zereth Mortis, find common ground with The Enlightened.
DECORATE THE FIRST ONES’ CYPHER The automa of Zereth Mortis talk in a musical language that mortal races cannot understand. In this new progression system, team up with a curious automa sidekick to study the Progenitors’ forgotten language and dive deeper into the mysteries of Zereth Mortis, unlocking a slew of new zone activities, daily tasks, events, and prizes.
NEW RAID: THE FIRST ONES’ SEPULCHER The key to unlocking the Jailer’s plans is hidden deep inside the Sepulcher of the First Ones. As you chase Zovaal into the Sepulcher and battle through his armies, gather the might of the First Ones—but first, you must confront Anduin and find a method to withstand the Jailer’s deadly Domination spell.
SETS OF CLASS TIER RETURN Collect unique class armor sets in raids, PvP, or Mythic+ dungeons to harness the might of the First Ones. Each set includes strong 2- and 4-piece set bonuses that enhance your special powers.
Eternity’s End’s other characteristics Season 3 of Mythic+ and PvP Tazavesh has been added to the rotation of Mythic Keystone Dungeons. For Seasonal content, Tazavesh will be separated into two different dungeons. New mounts and pets have been added to the game. Professions, Soulbinds, and Conduits have all been updated. At the Darkmoon Faire, there’s a new dance mini-game. Plus a lot more! We hope you liked this sneak peek of Eternity’s End. There’s a lot more to come, and as we approach closer to the PTR and release, we’ll provide in-depth previews of the features listed above and more.
