A “Shiny” Pokemon is a rare Pokemon with a colour that differs from the standard in the Pokemon franchise. There is a 6 in 65,536 chance of finding one before the release of Pokemon X/Y in 2013, and a 12 in 65,536 chance afterward: these chances are generally rounded to 1 in 8,192 and 1 in 4,096, respectively.
There is, however, a technique to enhance your chances of getting Shiny Pokemon to 1 in 1,366. You’ll need Pokemon from two separate real-world regions: a Pikachu from the United States and a Ditto from Japan, for example. When you breed them in a daycare, the kid — generally the female of the Pokemon being bred — has a considerably higher chance of becoming Shiny than normal.
